The Children’s BH Coalition Board Retreat included an interactive dialogue with Jason Helgerson, NYS State Medicaid Director. The Coalition discussed the importance of providers positioning themselves to be relative and engaged in treating the general pediatric population’s behavioral health needs and to be ready for sub-population VBP arrangements for complex needs youth.  The plan for implementation of children’s Medicaid Managed Care will go forward as planned, regardless of what takes place in Washington, D.C and we will deal with any fallout when the time comes.  The Medicaid Director is pleased with the implementation of Health Homes Serving Children and very optimistic that future discussions about Value Based Payment readiness will include the children’s system.  The need to focus on regulatory relief around cross-systems barriers was discussed in detail and the Coalition will be presenting recommendations to the Administration regarding practice and regulatory burdens on access to care.
